Ms. Parris-Benjamin is a Masters-level Licensed Social worker with a distinguished record of health care innovation and transformation, working with senior executive leadership at health plans and large hospital systems. Ms. Parris-Benjamin leads the development of innovative population health programs targeted at high-need populations, working with Horizon’s extensive Value-Based Network. In her current role, Ms. Parris-Benjamin serves as Clinical Design Lead translating executive strategy into tactical implementation for a broad variety of Community health initiates at Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey. She is responsible for leading payer/ provider integration work, including a consumer driven, community centric care coordination model, addressing Social Determinants of Health. She is also working with provider systems positioning themselves towards assuming global risk. Ms. Parris-Benjamin leads an Opioid workgroup focused on increasing awareness, stigma reduction, and education of the company employees and community agencies. She has led the development and implementation of Peer-Recovery models and served as a key speaker for the Partnership for a Drug Free NJ’s ‘Knock Opioid Out of New Jersey’ Initiative.

Ms. Parris-Benjamin’s work spans in both the non-profit and profit sectors of healthcare. Her background showcases a body of work as an advocate and facilitator for community based programs for HIV-positive pregnant teens and their families, survivors of domestic violence, individual and group counseling, parenting workshops to reunite families, and care coordination for underserved and chronically ill persons.

Ms. Parris-Benjamin is recognized as a strong leader and role model and is often recognized by her peers and senior leaders to support and mentor colleagues. She is also a proud business owner and entrepreneur supporting local community economy and workforce development, with a business model focused on developing confidence in children and the youth.

Ms. Parris-Benjamin is a cherished wife and mother of two children residing in NJ. She spends her spare time volunteering on restoration projects in inner cities and raising funds to support homeless teens.

Ms. Parris-Benjamin obtained her BA in Psychology from St. Johns University with and Minor in Social Work and her Masters in Social Work from Fordham University.
