Aramis Gutierrez, provides university-wide leadership for the Rutgers Future Scholars program. As part of the strategic mission as director since 2008, Aramis develops and cultivates academic alliances with key school, university, community, government and corporate partnerships. He also works closely with program and university personnel in creating a culture of support and excellence, developing curriculum focused on mentoring and academics, strategic planning, evaluation and assessment, fundraising, and exploring program replication on a national level. RFS has served over 2000 first generation students from low-income households and has helped over 90% of its Scholars enroll into college. As of Fall 2017, nearly 400 Scholars are studying at Rutgers on a full tuition-free Scholarship. He has helped raise nearly 20 million dollars, guided numerous institutions to launch similar college access programs, and is leading the development of a best practices toolkit to share with the field.

He has a background as a certified elementary teacher and high school counselor providing service to communities throughout the socio-economic spectrum. Aramis has received numerous awards for his contributions to leadership, teaching, and learning. Prior to RFS, he served as Associate Director of the Career Equity Resource Center at Rutgers University, as a Community College academic advisor, High School counselor, and as an elementary classroom teacher.
