JaKela Parker is currently the Financial Control Leader – DSM North America. She was previously the Global Financial Controller for DSM Biomedical. Prior to joining DSM, Ms. Parker held positions of increasing levels of responsibility across multiple disciplines including Finance, Sales, and Human Resources at Dentsply Sirona International and Eli Lilly & Company.

During her career, Ms. Parker has designed and re-engineered internal controls processes and policies for publicly traded companies, small businesses and not-for-profit entities. She has also worked with various constituents and educated them about the importance of controls as necessary to ensure that all stakeholders were appropriately informed and aligned. In addition, she has updated and implemented finance and accounting policies and procedures, as well as designed and executed the appropriate training to drive compliance to said policies and procedures. She has managed both internal and external audit engagements, ultimately helping to provide independent assurance that the organization’s risk management, governance and internal control processes were operating effectively and financial statements adequately reflect a true and fair value of the organization’s financial performance and position.

With regards to financial management, she has led strategic planning, both long term and short term for publicly traded companies, small businesses and not-for-profit entities. This included the communication of changes to the vision and/or mission as well as garnering buy-in/support from key constituents.

She has a passion for helping others. She has volunteered with various nonprofits, many with a focus on serving youth. She has served as a volunteer tutor and ESL teacher for children and adults. She serves Treasurer of the Board for the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America. She previously served on the Board of Trustees for the Forman S. Acton Educational Foundation, volunteered with the National Conference for Community & Justice (NCCJ) as a member of its ANYTOWNKC: Marketing & Fundraising Committee, and volunteered with Wings for Success as part of its Workshop Committee.

She graduated cum laude from Howard University. She loves to read, travel, and spend time with friends and family.
