Doctors Without Borders/MSF-USAl

David is Director of Domestic Human Resources for the US office of Doctors Without Borders/MSF-USA, an international humanitarian medical organization that works in more than 70 countries. He is a member of the management team working on strategic human resources issues ranging from diversity and talent management to expatriate benefits and wellness initiatives, serving as the US subject matter expert. In 2016, he was named, “Best Humanitarian HR Director – Greater New York” by CV Magazine and selected for the Forbes HR Council. David’s expertise includes employee/labor relations, performance management, compensation/benefits, training/development, recruitment/retention, and domestic and international human resources management.

At MSF-USA, David led the creation of an 18-week paid parental leave program, as well as extended leave programs for child and elder care. Building on its wellness program, he established a patient advocacy program, as well as, on-site doctor visits for staff. And to support staff in the US and in the field, he helped expand the Employee Assistance Program, offering virtual counseling and an enhanced short-term therapy program to help ensure a continuum of care. He also launched MSF-Campus, an on-line training platform offering business and medical courses to staff globally.

Prior to joining MSF-USA, David was Director of Human Resources at the New York Foundling Hospital Center for Pediatric, Medical and Rehabilitative Care, Inc. (Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center) where he received the NYAHSA (now LeadingAge New York) Professional of the Year Award for his contributions to pediatric long-term care.

David is also on the faculty of National Paralegal College where he is Director of Curriculum for the Bachelor of Business Administration program. He is responsible for reviewing and evaluating HR and business courses to ensure they meet the school’s accreditation requirements and are relevant for its students.

David has taught HR and healthcare administration courses for eCornell, and as Adjunct Faculty at New England College. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University and his Masters in Administrative Science and Post Graduate Certificate in Non Profit Management from Farleigh Dickinson University. As an IPMA-HR Fellow, he earned a Master of Laws from the University of Central Lancashire Law School (UK). He is a SHRM Senior Certified Professional, an IPMA-HR Senior Certified Professional, a Certified Workplace Mediator, and a practitioner member of the Association for Conflict Resolution. David is a Non-Profit Executive Scholar at Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management and has published peer-reviewed articles in Nursing Management, Public Personnel Management, and HR Magazine. He was named an “HR Thought Leader” by COMMERCE magazine, the flagship publication of the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey. He is a graduate of the Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations HR Director’s Program and the Harvard Program on Negotiations for Senior Executives.
