Angela Thompson is the Vice President of Human Resources for UPS’s U.S. East Region. Her responsibilities include H.R. strategic and tactical support to approximately 150,000 UPS employees in 26 states – more than a third of UPS’ global workforce.

She also monitors H.R. processes to ensure a consistent and balanced implementation and provides solutions to increase profit and growth. Angela began her UPS career in 1989 as a part-time H.R. Representative in Louisville, KY, in the district’s Air Hub, now known as Worldport. From 1989, she worked in Louisville in numerous assignments of increasing responsibility, until being promoted to district H.R. Manager in the Oregon District in January 2001.

In mid-2003, Angela accepted an assignment with Mail Boxes, Etc. (aka The UPS Store) in San Diego, CA. In March 2005, Angela relocated to Mahwah, NJ, where she accepted the assignment of I.S. Human Resources Manager at UPS’s World Technology Headquarters, which was followed by an assignment as district H.R. manager in the North New Jersey District in Parsippany, NJ. In September 2008, Angela accepted the assignment of Learning & Development Manager in the West Region in Laguna Hills, CA, later accepting an assignment as district H.R. manager in the Southern California District in August 2009.

Following the corporate reorganization, she remained at this location as district H.R. manager of the new South California District until June, 2011, when she returned to the West Region as its H.R. Operations Manager. In 2014, Angela relocated back to New Jersey after accepting her current assignment as I.S. H.R. Department Manager.

Angela holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from William Penn College in IA, and a master’s degree from Webster University in MO, with a double major in Human Resources and Management.

Angela serves as a Board Member for Women in Trucking Foundation and is an active member of the East Region Diversity and Inclusion Council that supports our Business Resource Groups.
